This is a great question, Olivia. The novel follows Lily so we do not see what happens after she has left her father's house behind. My bet is that he is angry she has ran away. Perhaps he is having deja vu from when Deborah left him. Do you think we will see T-Ray again?
I think T-Ray is angry at Lily for leaving but also part of him is upset because she was the only part of Deborah, he has left. I think T-Ray is going to come back in the end of the book and punish Lily for running away, something worse than the Martha White grits.
I think T-Ray is worried about Lily. Although he always gave Lily punishment but he still cared her. Like when she was in jail he still came to save her, and I believed what he said about her mother. I think T-Ray told Lily the truth and he had no reason to lie about that.
