Our Lady of Chains

Why is June against Lily touching the heart of "Our lady of Chains"? Do you think it's because she is white and the statue was there to save black slaves from the whites? Or is there another reason behind it.

    I think that to, but I also think june just doesnt like Lily for some weird reason.
