Puppy Love
How much time do you think Lily and Zach spend together? Do you think Zach likes Lily too or is she making it up when she says "He bent toward me. I wanted him to lift back my veil and kiss me, and I knew he wanted to do it, too, by the way he fixed his eyes on me"? Is she just taking this the wrong way or does he really feel this way towards her?

I think he feels the same way about her. I feel like the only reason he didn't kiss her is because he wasn't sure of her feelings. Maybe he thought he could get in trouble for kissing her, considering his skin color. Plus, we learned about how black men weren't allowed to date white women at the time, even if Lily isn't racist, he is probably still a little scared by the idea.
